Referral Protocols

The OS Exec has produced  a draft referral protocol that will be a basis for discussion between AOCs, Ophthalmology Hospital departments and the Health Boards. Although the Regs have been published allowing direct referral for any reason with a copy note to the GP, it will have to be business as usual until each AOC gets its referral pathway sorted. All we have at present is the enabling legislation allowing us to implement the solution the AOCs arrive at. Further information will be issued in due course.
