Scottish Diabetic Retinopathy Grading Scheme (2004)
Following a talk on Diabetic Retinopathy Screening at a recent SCO conference, it was suggested that it would be useful to have the new Scottish Diabetic Retinopathy Grading Scheme (2004) available on the Optometry Scotland website. The Grading Scheme form is attached as a pdf file. The form, and further information on Diabetic Retinopathy Screening, can be accessed on the NHS Scotland National Services Division website at http://www.nsd.scot.nhs.uk/services/drs/. Please note that the photographs referred to in the Grading Scheme form can be accessed using the link at the bottom of page 2 of the form.
Reference Guidance Pack
Please find attached a copy of the Referral Guidance Pack, including a suggested Referral Guidance Protocol, a new draft Referral Form and a copy of the CCI Care Pathways. This represents the OS view on direct referral following a period of consultation with colleagues in Community Optometry, Hospital Optometry and Ophthalmologists. It is expected that the SEHD will send this pack to the NHS Boards, either in this form or in a modified form. The main purpose being to encourage discussion between the HES and AOCs to help establish new direct referral lines of communication.
