The National Ophthalmic Workforce (NOW) Review report has been published providing a picture of picture of the patient-facing ophthalmic workforce delivering services across primary and secondary care in Scotland.  

Julie Mosgrove, Chair of OS, said 'The publishing of workforce data in Scotland is a positive step forward in understanding the requirements and challenges the workforce face now and in the future. This report gives a good starting point, however, reflects the workforce in 2021. At this time, the profession was within one year of reopening with restrictions during COVID, when there was a level of job uncertainty and we were in a phase of recovery. We appreciate the data has to be captured from a specific moment in time but would acknowledge this no longer aligns with the outlook or views we have received from our membership now operating in different times.  We look forward to future reports where data reflects current times'
