OS seeking Vice Chair and Independent Council representatives

With Optometry Scotland’s AGM fast-approaching, a number of key roles are set to open up on our Executive Committee and Council.

We are seeking a new Vice Chair to serve for a term of two years, and we are inviting applications from across our membership, please get in touch for more information.

Vice Chair

The successful applicant will be required to support the Chair in driving forward the strategy of Optometry Scotland, deputise for the chair as required, provide input on key decisions, and represent the organisation at key political meetings.

The majority of the role can be carried out remotely, with occasional travel, and requires a commitment of 48 hours per month. Remuneration is £2,000 per annum with an additional hourly rate as required.

Applicants should have a solid awareness and understanding of the sector, clinical knowledge, and business experience to support financial decision-making. The successful candidate must work in a membership organisation as a practice owner, company director or senior management role.

We are seeking 4 Independent representatives to serve for a term of two years, and we are inviting applications from across our membership.

OS Independent Council Member

This role entails representing other independents, mainly within your region and surrounding areas.  The successful applicant will be an ambassador for OS, encouraging membership and promoting the objectives of the organisation.

Carried out mostly remotely, it requires a commitment of 4-6 hours per month including attendance at key Executive Committee and Council meetings.  The successful candidates must be OS members paying a full levy and own an independent practice.  Current Independent representatives are eligible to re-apply.
