With more than 370 members representing the optical professions in Scotland, Optometry Scotland works tirelessly on behalf of members.    We offer a range of membership categories and invite you to join us to be a part of the future of the profession in Scotland.

We ask all professionals practicing in Scotland to support OS.

Membership Categories and Fees

To be eligible for membership a person/business must be a resident, working or operating in Scotland.

Full-time members will be practices who operate more than 22.5 clinical hours per week.  Membership will exist across all business practices, meaning if a business owns more than one practice, a fee is required for each individual practice.  Membership covers all staff. 

The membership fee for a Full-time practice is £67 per month. 

Concessionary members will be practices who operate on 22.5 clinical hours or less per week.  Membership will exist across all business practices, meaning if a business owns more than one practice, a fee is required for each individual practice.  Membership covers all staff. 

The membership fee for a Concessionary practice is £40 per month.  

Locum members are self employed registered optometrists or registered dispensing opticians who are not 
contracted to work at any one Optometry Practice on a permanent basis.

The membership fee for a Locum is £10 per month.  

Individual membership are applicable to optometrists or dispensing opticians who are not a practice owner or employee of an existing member.

The membership fee for an Individual is £10 per month.

Student and Pre-Reg membership is available for the duration of the studying and pre-registration.  

Student and pre-reg membership is free.
