Possible OS website disruption

Please note that over the next few weeks there may be some disruption to Optometry Scotland website due to ongoing updates, it is hoped to keep any downtime limited to evenings and weekends.

Next OS Council meeting on 1st October 2012

Please note that the next OS Council meeting will be held on: Monday 1st October 2012 at the Glasgow Hilton Hotel (located at 1 William Street, Glasgow, G3 8HT).

A buffet lunch will be served from 12pm and the meeting will commence at 1pm with an expected finish time of no later than 5pm. Please confirm if you will be able/unable to attend this meeting by Monday 17th September, by contacting Debbie.

All AOC leads and those of you who would like to provide a written update for this meeting on any relevant business to send this to Debbie by Monday 17th September. All papers will be circulated by Friday 21st September.

Next phase of website upgrade due soon

The next phase of the website upgrade is due to be rolled out in October 2012. This update will see some sections of the website reserved exclusively for Optometry Scotland members, including the new members’ only blog. We are in the process of finalising login details and these will be sent out to OS members by post. Further details of the planned site downtime will be announced on this news page.

Initial phase of project to upgrade the OS website is now complete

The initial phase of the project to upgrade and improve the Optometry Scotland website is now complete.

The project involved substantial changes taking place behind the scenes which will improve the functionality of the site, these changes will also provide a scalable platform for future upgrades.

The updated version of the website launched last week (7 May 2012), and some of the more noticeable improvements include: a new search feature and a navigational tracker (breadcrumbs), there has also been some minor design and layout changes.

The next phase of the website upgrade will be rolled out later in 2012, which will add a blog and dedicated sections exclusively for Optometry Scotland members.

David Bonellie is the new Vice Chair of Optometry Scotland

A new Vice Chair of Optometry Scotland was chosen at the 2012 AGM. David Bonellie, Independent Optometrist based in Irvine, will now step into the position of Vice Chair. After his appointment David said, "I am flattered to be in this position. It allows me to be able to put something back into a profession that has been very successful. I am looking forwarding to assisting Sam and taking Optometry in Scotland forward over the next two years."
